Does having policies and laws affect people’s behaviour and values positively?

Only by having laws on bigger issues like climate change will people's behaviour improve. We are all selfish beings and will put ourselves first and society second. The problem is if we have law makers who do the same. Without brave politicians I think we will face complete climate disastor.

Yes, I think having policies and laws does impact peoples behaviour in a positive way. I think they are important however, parents are so important in teaching their children positive values and behaviour.

I think having laws and policies does shape most people's behaviours and values for the better as they provide a consequence if they are not followed. However, people must still be sure to go beyond these to make sure they show behaviours such as kindness which can't be shaped by laws and policies.

I disagree. By having laws we give up responsibility for our actions and give the power to the state. But it also helps to stop some acts that would harm others as people fear consequences. If we have a world of people only stopping themselves from harming others out of fear of the consequences are we really evolved as people?

Wow - that’s such an interesting question! I think that the consequences change for richer people due to what their money can buy. Or the fact that they can afford the consequences!

They favour children because children under 18years should not be taken to prison since they are still young.
