What do you think?
We could start by educating about what human and children rights are - and then we need to make sure that governments are exemplary in passing laws that protect rather than abuse our rights.
I worry that human rights are just an idea we keep in books and people are not truly committed to achieving them. Otherwise, why would we have anyone living on the streets, let alone children?
Communities should join hands together with police so as to protect street children at night.
I ask the police kindly to get to know the reasons as to why that child had left home.
A child should be accepted in the family and given opportunities to participate in discussions and decisions. They are part of the family.
Treat him like your brother. Instead of chasing him just help him because you don’t know what brought him to the street.
Children should be given a chance to talk and bring ideas
I think local councillors should take more of an interest in sharing with the community about children's rights. In the UK, I think many people assume that all children access their rights, however this is not the case, which is why more education is needed.
Work close with local leaders to help sensitize people
Parents also need to know their roles in children's right
I think if children attend given chance to participate in all community meetings it would be a nice idea to help make people understand children's rights
Having advocacy meetings about children's rights at all levels of leadership this could also help
Making children's rights a subject in education curriculum
Organizing monthly sports activities in a community with a theme on each right will help community understand children's rights
Electing children's committees in every community that is responsible for children's rights
Having weekly community radio talk shows in every community will make people understand rights for children
Government should consider having children also represented at parliament such that they also talk about their challenges
Punish all those people that abuse children's rights and make them do community work
Having community centers where children easily go to and have fun activities and adults arrive also invited to learn more
So many good ideas - how do we get them to happen. We need to be vocal in our passion for human rights - for all people young and old. Young people are our future - we need to value their input.
